Break-in at the Village Hall

The Village Hall had a break-in recently and the mower was stolen. In addition there has been other similar thefts of mowers in the last month from surrounding villages.

A shed alarm can be purchased through a local Neighbourhood Watch group or from the usual security/DIY outlets.

2018 Goldhanger May Ball raises £900

We had a wonderful evening on May 12th at our biennial May Ball. The theme was the Royal wedding of Prince Harry & Meghan Markle and the hall was befittingly adorned with red, white & blue. With flags, streamers and even a 6ft wedding cake! Thanks to all who came to support the event and make it a hugely enjoyable night. We had a lot of laughs.

Thanks also to Jenny Pulsford & team for their usual high standard of catering, to Rob & The Loggers band for some great sounds and keeping us dancing all night, to all who kindly donated raffle prizes – including Lauriston Farm, Burnham Golf Club, Crowne Plaza Country Club & Spa, and many people who generously donated items. Over £900 was raised, a fantastic contribution towards the Village Hall Improvement Project.  Thank you!

Sailing Club raises money for kayaks

The new sailing season has started and the weather has been beautiful. How lucky we are to have this amazing estuary to explore?

When the weather is so hot and sunny, with not enough wind to sail, what could be nicer than paddling a kayak along the shore? The club youngsters love to explore in the safety of the creek and to race each other in the shallows close to the club. A few more mature members may also have been seen on the early tides trying out their kayaking skills. That is why we decided to try to raise funds for more kayaks and the idea for the “Pop-Up Tea Room” was born.

We could not have asked for better weather or support in our efforts. A wonderful afternoon of tea and cakes was enjoyed in the sunshine on the driveways at the end of Fish Street. We raised an impressive £370.00. Enough for one new child’s kayak with some left over to add to our next fund raising event to buy another. We were very pleased. A big THANK YOU to everyone who supported us, both in making and donating cakes, and in the eating of them. We are very grateful and look forward to the increase in our club kayak fleet.

If you are interested in joining the sailing club, please speak to Rod or Jenny @ 41 Fish Street – 788145 or call the club secretary Kay on 01621-892612. We would love to see you.
